Following the release of the Back to the Future Time Machine model last year by Round 2 under their Polar Lights brand, they're back with a new version of this iconic DeLorean sports car. Like the first kit, the model replicates the now legendary sports-car-come-time-machine as modified and driven by Doc Brown at the end of the first movie and again in Back to the Future Part II, with the hover conversion and Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor (powered by household waste) installed.
This kit is moulded in gray styrene and presented on seven parts trees plus one tree of chrome plated parts, one body shell with a nice brushed finish and four rubber (vinyl) tires. The model is designed as a snap-together kit so the car can be assembled with little or no glue and finished in a short time. Alternatively, a more advanced modeller can take a bit more time to create a professionally finished model by painting over and enhancing the excellent details already moulded into the kit.
The model depicts the car as seen at the end of the first film and then again in Back to the Future - Part 2, so this time the kit comes with an extra configuration where the wheels are rotated sideways to lift the car off the ground, transforming DeLorean into a hovercraft. Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor and other details are also clearly visible and faithfully replicated. The kit includes a display stand to hold the car above the ground while in hover mode.
This 1/25 scale model retails for $39 (£24/€31).
